Artists’ Exchange

Supporting the Arts to Inspire, Educate, and Bring People Together

For the community of Cranston, the arts are more than decoration—they are a vital pathway to connection, learning, and self-expression. With support from the White Family Foundation, Artists’ Exchange has been able to transform its mission into action, providing spaces, programs, and experiences that nurture creativity for people of all ages and abilities.

From all-level art classes and summer camps to school programs, performances, and community events, the Foundation’s support makes it possible for Artists’ Exchange to create meaningful, hands-on experiences that engage both participants and audiences. The in-house Black Box Theatre, for example, features productions with actors with and without disabilities, offering performances that inspire, entertain, and challenge community members while giving artists a platform to shine.

As Shannon Casey, Director, reflects:

“Funding from donors like the White Family Foundation lifts small organizations like ours, allowing us to provide studio space for neighbors, pay teaching artists, and support productions that bring the community together. In a time when many private contributions have diminished, this support is essential for sustaining arts education and programming.”

Through these programs, the Foundation’s investment directly touches the lives of children, families, and artists, fostering both skill-building and a sense of belonging. Community events like open houses, artisan fairs, and the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest create shared experiences where creativity is celebrated and connections are strengthened.

By supporting the arts in Cranston, the White Family Foundation helps ensure that the city becomes a vibrant, engaged artistic hub. Every class, performance, and studio session is a testament to the power of accessible arts programming—and to the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing creativity, opportunity, and community.
